European forum of Engineers without borders

As the safety and health of everybody involved with the event and of course yourselves is paramount, our team has decided to postpone the forum and try to contain Covid-19 from spreading any further. The exact date will be communicated as soon as possible…

The European associations of “Engineers without borders” are invited to get together in Brussels for their first European Forum ! Plenary sessions and workshops will be organized in order to exchange experiences and best practices, to assess potential collaborations and explore common future projects for 2 days and we of course haven’t forgotten to throw in a bit of fun!

Main objectives

Exchange of experience and best practices between European EWBs: main areas of action, target countries, financing, governance…

Identification of potential opportunities for further collaboration: common platforms, common tools, common initiatives on specific social/environmental challenges.

Building our Reputation: increase the visibility of Engineers Without Borders towards European stakeholders.

Development of a European network of similar-minded engineers, sharing common values and objectives and facing similar challenges.

Who we are?

The Belgian « Engineers without borders » (French and Flemish-speaking communities: ISF and IZG) are all volunteers. They provide technical support, on demand, to local communities in developing countries. They have been active for around 30 years, mainly in Africa and South America. They help provide drinking water to local communities, they help develop solutions for waste management, they support the deployment of renewable energy solutions.

The Belgian “Engineers Without Borders” are today inviting their friends and colleagues from other similar European movements to join them in Brussels for 2 days of exchange.

More than ever, global challenges require the fast and efficient deployment of affordable technical solutions, supported by solid technical expertise.

Our belief is that we can better address these challenges by working together, across borders, and by joining our forces.

The Forum will assess opportunities for enhanced collaboration between European associations of Engineers Without Borders. In the immediate vicinity of main European institutions, in Brussels.

WHY DOES IT MAKE SENSE TO JOIN US ?

It’s a social fact: young engineers are increasingly paying attention to   the commitment of companies to deliver a positive impact on society. Being an engineer is much more than owning a technical know-how, developing products, improving processes: it is about improving lives and providing solutions for a fair and sustainable development. Join us and contribute to support this transition, show commitment for international solidarity and, ultimately, help better address global challenges.

The online registration  will open soon…
